Happy NewYear!

Another year has passed, and a new year is just around the corner.
I want to wish everyone a great, happy, festive, healthy and fun new year. May all your hopes and dreams come true!

To my uncle: happy birthday!!!!

2010 was another year filled with firsts, but also, just with happy and sad things.
  • my sisterinlaws gallblatter had to be removed
  • Merlijn got a xbox 360
  • We went to the Elf Fantasy Fair, Castlefest, Whiskeytasting
  • my godfather and his wife turned 120 together
  • I got a second job nearby
  • I renewed my driverslicense
  • me and hubs were married for 2 years
  • my old work, where my mom still used to work burned down
  • I had another allergic reaction in my face
  • Which resulted in me, going to work high on meds(which was fun, weird, akward all at once)
  • I had a concussion, which gave me probs for almost 2 months
  • We went to see Cirque du Soleil
  • I had my first blog anniversary
  • I missed dads and grandmas birthday...again
  • I got a renewal on my contract for my second job
  • We had a day of christmas allllll to ourselves
  • We went to see lots of movies: Percy Jackson, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, New Kids Turbo, etc
  • And lots of other things...

I hope to have lots of other fun stuff this year, with hopefully lots of surprises in store.

I want to thank my family for understanding that I can't always be with them when I want to, hopefully I'll see more of you in 2011. To our friends, thank you for being there when we need you. To Sanne and Mark, congratulations on the new pregnancy, I'm really happy for you guys(But i'm still not going to babysit! :p)

To my lexlings, thank you -so much- for another year of awesome posts, of hysterious laughter, of hope, sadness and love.  For all the endless conversations about books, men, love, kids, movies, and life in general.
Let's dream some more about the Lexlingmeet, and who knows?
I'm so gratefull to have met you all, life would be so boring without you.
Congratulations Megan on your engagement, and Lyndsay good luck with all the preparations for your wedding. I know you'll both be gorgeous brides.

To Barabara, for not forgetting about me, when you were living in exciting London, and I'll see you soon! *bounces*

To everyone in my life, from collegues to people on twitter, to readers of my blog: thank you for being there, life would be very different without you and I hope 2011 will be a year with even more fun than this one had!

And ofcourse, thank you Sidney, for having lived through another year with me. I know I can be an ass sometimes, and get on your nerves, and I love you for letting me do it all ( to you :P). There's noone I can be more myself with, and noone I can have more fun with. I love waking up next to you in the morning, and see you come home at night. I love how you always are the gentleman and even come pick me up at work at night. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but it must be something big and awesome. Thank you for being there for me always, for understanding me and my little quirks and for supporting me in everything that I do. I could go on and on, but I'd probably bore my readers to death or they might need a barfbag.
So let's just say, thank you for being in my life and making it worth living. I love you.

The first day of christmas

I tend to wear green of red on christmas, it just feels... appropiate?
Anyway, since I'm a sucker for red, this year I went for a black-red combination.

I'm wearing a red haltertop with black velvet tattoo print. I really love it, except that the fabric is really thick, which makes it wrinkle around me. It's from the same collection as the little black dress I wore to christmas last year ;)
Then I have a black suede pencilskirt, which is a bit hiked up here, trust me it's longer.
Some black leggings with black lace stockings on top, which you can;t see on the pic unfortunately.
A black knitted bolero, my favourite black pumps with bands around my ankle, and some red flowers in my hair.

I decided on christmas morning what to do with my makeup...a bit last minute, hahaha.

I opted for gold...lots of gold. I can tell you that I've used around 7 different colours of gold, and lots of different brands.

There's some Mac, Sugarpill, Barry M, Gosh, Sleek and Hema in there.

I used false lashes by Fingr's, which I really liked btw.

And ofcourse, I used my Chanel lipstick, for the first time....more on that later!

Ofcourse we also made pics of use on this holiday, so prepare for picturespam :P

'Twas the day before christmas...

....and I had to go to work. Hahahaha. I did put on a simple little black dress, so that I didn't have to change after work and still was comfortable enough to go my job.

I kept my makeup fairly simple, with just a touch of sparkle.

I used some everyday minerals on my face, and a bordeaux coloured Lipfinity.

I'm really bubbly in the morning...NOT!

cute pastry my boss got me for lunch :)

Having dinner in the local snackbar
This is where the migraine started kicking in...so  took off the headband

The christmas tree with all the presents

We have this tradition to have breakfast at 12 o clock at night on christmas eve and give eachother little presents. I got really cute cameo earrings and lingerie giftcards.

BTW, sorry for not posting on monday and tuesday, but I really needed some rest :)

Merry christmas everyone!

I want to wish everyone a very merry christmas, joy to the world and all that stuff!
Don't eat to much, think about the people in the world who are less fortunate than you and don't drink and drive!

I'll leave you with one of my favourite blogs ever: a special christmas blog

I just love her drawings, especially when she does the manga eyes on her main character.

If you havent read this blog before, please do. It always makes me snort, giggle or laugh out loud......or all of the above, hahaha. And since this one is about christmas, I just had to share. Go and read it!

NOTD: Christmas Nails

I wanted to try out my christmas Konad imageplate, but I couldn't find the time. Now, when I have to work evenings, I could finally do an NOTD with them. I played with them and a little brush, so they have become somewhat artistic, lol.

As a base I used a golden polish by Etos, which I can't find anywhere when I'm writing this.

I used special polishes by Konad: white, red, green and black. I also used silver, but this one didn't show well on gold, so I used a brish to go over it with black.

I really like the candy cane, too bad the black looks so harsh on the christmas tree, it was silver at first, but that didn't really show.

This is how the images look when you use just one colour.

Can it get any more christmas-y? That's a word! Well, it is now!

EOTD: an oldfashioned Christmas

Today is my dad's birthday!!!! Congratulations dad, sorry I can't be there, but we'll see you soon in 2011! *sm00ch*

When I think of christmas, I tend to think of the oldfashioned colour: gold, red and green. Nowadays other colours will come to me, like silver and purple, but I wanted to do an 'oldfashioned' christmas look.

I used Gosh eyeshadowbase, because I was going to use loose powders and this way they would stick to my eyelid better.

I started with Sleek eyedust Vintage on my inner eyecorner. This is a beautifull golden colour, that has a hint of old gold to it. It also has a beautifull metallic sheen.

Then I applied some Sleek eyedust Eden, a gorgeous dark green with onc again that beautifull metallic sheen to it.

Then I took some Mac pigment Heritage Rouge, and applied that above my crease. It's a bit darker in truth than on cam, but it turned a bit more brighter after it was blended and after a few hours it was more a toned down red. As a highlighter I used a nude colour by 2True.

Then I applied some Essence glittereyeliner to make it a bit more darker. Since I dont have many eyelashes, and they are natural blondes, I  always like to have some dark in my eotds.

Below my eyes, I applied Gosh velvet touch eyeliners Golden Moss and Woody Green.
You know, I have some funny christmass earrings that would go perfect with this look. It has golden, red and green christmas balls on a little chain. LOL

Giveaway: the surprise product!

So in the giveaway blog I told you there would be surprise product. I intended it to be a Sleek original palette, but when I saw this one, I knew this had to be it!

It's the Limited Edition Sleek Sparkle palette !!!!

Okay, so this pic sucks, but it does show the amazing sparkle the palette has.

I don't have time to make better pictures or swatches, beacuse I have to go to work soon. (well, when I'm writing this that is). So I searched for some decent pictures online:

NOTD: Gosh Green Hawaii

Today is my grandmothers birthday. I know she won't read this, but last year was her 80th bday, and snow made us stay at home (its on the other side of the country) And this yr we both have to work. So I wanted to congratulate her on here anyway. Im really sorry I can't be there and miss yet another familydinner :(
Ive mailed her a selfmade photocard with chocolates, and hopefully they'll arrive in time. I'll give her her present next time I'll see her, which will be in 2011.

This is a NOTD with Gosh' Green Hawaii.

This is a lovely bright green, wih mulitcoloured(holographic?) glitters.
It's a bit too bright a green, for christmas, otherwise it would have been perfect, with all those glitters.

Application is easy, and this is 2 coats. Taking it off was a bit of a pain, glitters were ALL over my hands.
Dila gave me the tip to put on some rubber gloves, that would make the glitterpolish come off fairly easy.
I haven't tried it myself yet, but if anyone tries, please let me know how that worked out.

It's a lovely polish and I wish Gosh would make some darker colurs with the exact same glitters in it, they are just stunning!

Serious Request 2010: Give them back their Future

It's that time of the year again.....I'm not really into christmas, because December is a really busy month for us. Not just with Sinterklaas, Christmas and New Year, but also with a -lot- of bdays in the family.
To me christmas reminds me of snow...and serious request. Hubs and I always follow the djs in the glass house and always try to support SR in one way or another.

I was so excited when I heard that SR would be in Eindhoven this year. It's not that far from my parents, and we usually go to my parents in the same period that the glass house would be there. Unfortunately for me, this year it wasn't the snow that stopped me from going to my grandmothers and my dads bday, this year it was work. We'll probably try to go and see them in January.
Anyway, we still want to donate, like we do every year.
This year there weren't Serious Request stamps available, so we opted for Tshirts instead. That way we can wear those every yr with every Serious Request and make people aware of the dj's and their charitywork.

We ordered these:
For Hubs, since he can rock any colour.
For me, since I really can't rock that pale blue.

So what IS Serious Request?
Last Saturday three 3FM radioDj's, Gerard, Giel and Coen, have locked themselves in, in a glass house. They are going to DJ around the clock, WITHOUT EATING from dec 18th till dec 24th. They do this every year, working together with the Red Cross, to collect money for charity. This year, the charity will be 'Aids Orphans'.
Theese are children that were orpahned because Aids killed their parents. SOme of them have aids themselves, some of them don't. We none of them have education, food or someone to look after them.
The Red Cross wants to change that, and give them back their future.

Previous Serious Requests:

2004: 915.955 euros for the refugees in Darfur.
2006: Studio Brussel joins the action
2008: Swedish Pr/SVT joins the fun
2008: Nairobi, Kenya introduces a Glass House.
2008: 5.737.937 euros is donated to help refugees.
2009: Swiss radiostation DRS 3 and Schweizer Fernsehen join SR.
2009:  7.113.447 euros is donated to help against malaria.

I think it's really good that other countries have joined in on the action. The Glass House in Kenya isn't really about collecting money, it's about giving FREE Aidstests to people. Their government gives free medicine to people with aids, but the aidstest arent for free, and not everyone can afford those. So now they can be tested and know within 20 mins if they have aids. They can get medical help immediately after that. I heard that over 300 tests have been done on the very frist day.

Everyone can help:
You can donate money by sending textmessages, request a certain song, buy stuff from the SR webshop, donate empty bottles(thanx to Coca Cola) or participate in the auction. Lots of stuff has been donated for the auction by famous people, but there are also masterclasses, art, and other stuff to bid on.
You can start your own collection online or think of some other way to collect money.
Every euro matters! Especially this year, when our government decided NOT to double the money, which I think is ridiculous!

Let's work together and give them back their future!

Daan's first birthday & LOTD

Since, I shared Daan's birth, I ofcourse had to share his first birthday. (Which was last tuesday, and we celebrated it on sunday).

Here's Sid with Daan, when we just came in the door. I hadn't seen him crawl that fast before!

Daan with our gift, he didn't really understand that the paper wasn't the gift...

And there's Vtech's Vrolijke Vormenkevertje!

My face after our visit and riding our bike through the cold. The lipstick did -not- like the cold.

And my outfit of the day:
Black treggings(or jeggings, whatever), black longsleeves( I was cold), grey long shirt with cameo and peacockfeather print, black bolero and black overknee boots(well they are supposed to be overknee...)

EOTD ( &FOTD): Pink is the new Black

Some days, I just want a lot of colour. This day, I went for pink, shocking pink, since babypink makes me look like a zombie :)

I used Manhattan Multi Effect eyeshadow Violet all over my eyelid. This is a gorgeous bold violet colour, that is really in your face, and not that tamed down purply violet, you see on this pic.

In the outer V, I used the purple from the Sleek Aci palette. Then I used the darker pink from the same palette above my crease.  After that I applied a highlighter I think it was Colour& ShineBling Bling by Essence, not sure though.
And then I applied a little bit of Wet n Wild Coloricon Blaze/Gresillement, the one Ally gave me in the swap. I really like how the gold in that pink, gives it some extra shine and depth

After that I applied some Coastel Scents gelliner True Black, and some Barry M kohlpencil bneath my eyes.

To make the look complete, I applied some Maybelline Superstay color Raspberry on my lips.

I also put my hair in a high ponytail, just beacuse I wanted to.

I got a -lot- of compliments on this look, I wore this to work and apparantly, people liked it :)
