Happy NewYear!

I know I'm early, but I'm not sure if I'll be online tomorrow. And I know some of you will be celebrating the new year in just a few hours (while we still have to wait another 11 hours), so it's not THAT early. :)

I want to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and fun New Year!
May all your hopes and dreams come true in 2010!

I want to especially thank my family, inlaws and friends who made 2009 a great year, and I look forward to start another year knowing all of you. To all of you: You are always there for us and we appreaciate it more than you'll ever know. Thank you for everything you've done and for being you. You all have a special place in my heart.

I want to congratulate my uncle, because today is his birthday. I wish you many more to come!
Congratulations again to Lexling Linda, with becoming a mother in 2009, to lovely Linus.
Congratulations again to Terry, who gave birth to beautifull Alice Rose last monday.
Congratulations again to Sanne, my sisterinlaw, with our new familymember, Daan.

Barbara, who moved to the UK in 2009, you're my dearest friend and I miss you a lot. Thank gawd for internet! I hope to see you soon in 2010 and we'll have lots of fun. Be safe *sm00ch*

My dear Lexlings, I look forward to another year with all of you. 2009 was a special year, because I found you guys and I look forward to another year full of discussions about books, movies, life and other ramblings. And ofcourse also a lot of drama, love, and fun. Don't forget the new additions to our happy little family: Linus and Alice Rose, who both have a truckload of amazing aunts spread all over the world :)
Lexlings, I love you all, and I wish you all the very best for 2010!

I also want to thank everyone I know, not listed above. People at work, on fora, etc. Without you, life would not be the same.

And last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my beloved, Sidney.
For putting up with my weird ramblings and habits, for letting me be myself and loving me for it, for laughing at my stupid jokes, for every smile, for every touch, for every kiss. And ofcourse for being crazy enough to marry me last year and still loving me after 6 years together. My life and world are better because you are in it. I love you.

Small Makeup Haul

Last week I bought some things at a clearance sale at Kruidvat. I love clearance sale and I try not to buy anything for the full price, saves us a lot of money :)

Apart from the Essence Nailglue, which I described in the previous blog, I also bought:
  • Extreme Art Eyeliner by Gosh , no. 12
  • Effect Powder by Gosh, Sunstone
  • Long Lasting Eyepencil by Essence, no. 9 C'est la vie!
  • Kajalpencil by Essence, no. 12 Go wild

The extreme arteyeliner is waterproof, which means you can walk through a storm with it, and it won't come off. Even with makeupremover it's pretty hard to get off your eyes. They come in a lot of different colours and not just the usual black and brown. The one I bought is a green colour, (how unexpected) and like the rest of them, has a very nice small brush, which makes applying it very easy.

The effect powder is salmonlike colour with golden shimmers. It comes in a nice little jar with a plastic cap, so it won't spill into the top of the jar everytime you open it. These effectpowder are easy to use, are very pigmented and come in various beautifull colours. You can also use them as an eyeliner, wich gives great results.

The longlasting eyepencil is like a stick, that you can lift by twisting the pen around itself. It has a nice silver shimmery colour for a more dramatic effect. It says to be loglasting, so I'm curious how long it will hold.

The kajal pencil is a shimmery light silverturquoise, I can't describe it any other way. It reminds me of colours I would pick for a snowqueen. I think this one went out of the collection, but I'm not sure.

I made some swatches, but I couldn't get the shimmery colours to photograph right. Still, it gives you a feel of the products ad the way they look.

Nailglue and NOTD

Every once in a while I have a broken nail, and usually it's in the middle of my nail, so I can't cut it.
So, to save myself a lot of pain everytime my nail comes in contact with something, I use some nailglue to repair them. Nailglue is pretty easy to use and they come in all kinds of shapes.
In this blog I'll show 2 different nailglues from the same brand.

The first one is the Nail glue pen by Essence.
The pen immediately appealed to me, because a pen is pretty easy to put into your purse for emergencies. You push the pen gently on your nail and then the glue comes out of it. Or so the writing on it says. It might be that I have bought the one pen that doesn't really work, but my pen doesn't work when you push it gently. You have to crush it to a straight surface to get the tip at the top to move. Which isn't really handy when you have a ail that hurts because it's gone straight over the middle of you fingernail.

You can see a little dot of glue that has dried on the top of the pen. I push the pen on a paper or something an then apply the glue that comes out of it on my nail. Not the best of solutions but it works. And I have to say it is a very strong glue. It takes a while to dry, but when it's done, you can do anything with your nails. Or at least, just do your normal stuff ;)

The second one is the Nail Glue by Essence in a little jar.
It's has a little applicator just like a normal nailpolish. You can apply it quite accurately and it is very easy to use. In my opinion this one took a little longer to dry than the other one. But it might be the exact same glue and it just appeared to be longer. The result is very good, your nails can be used as before.

I used both of these glues, because 2 nails of mine were broken. Months of long nails and then all of a sudden, 3 break in one week. I cut one, but the other two were broken right on top of the finger, in the middle of the nail. One was even broken on 2 sides! That one really hurt and I had to wear a bandaid on it the rest of the day, which annoyed me a lot. So As soon as I got the opportunity I applied nailglue on the broken nails and after that treated them the same way as all the other nails (nailhardener and nailpolish).
It's almost 2 weeks later now, and my nails are still glued and ''whole''. I have re-applied the glue when I applied new nailpolish to be sure, but even after work, they are still 'whole'' and not splitting or anything.
So I can really recommend these nailglues. They are around 2 or 3 euros, so not really expensive either.

For this NOTD I applied Herome nalhardener as a basecoat, as usual. After that I applied the Black Pearl by Rimmel. One thick layer, and not two or more layers, because they chip easier with layers. If you apply a thicker layer, it dries a bit slower, but it will stay on a lot better.

On my left hand I used a Nail art sticker by Essence, which costs 1,49 euros for about 20 orso stickers. They come in 4 different styles and this one I never used before. I think it looks great on darker nailpolish.
On top of that I used the ''01 Clear as Ice'' Multi Dimension 3 in 1 nail polish with XXl shine by Essence, as a topcoat.

Metallic Stones / Christmas Makeup

On the 26th of dec, I used the Metallic Stones palette to create my christmas makeup.

Products I used:
  • Gosh eyeshadowbase
  • Barry M Metallic Liquid Eyelier  no.1
  • Zoeva Metallic Stones palette
  • Maybelline The Colossal mascara

I did my eyebrows as usual, with the Gosh eyebrowpencil and the fine slanted brush. I also applied the eyeshadowbase as usual.

On the inner eyecorner I used a light silver colour from the Zoeva palette.
Next to that I used a silver that is a bit darker.

On the outer eyecorner I used the dark purple colour from the same palette and applied it on the crease aswell.
With a blendingbrush, I blended the colours together and faded the outer edges. Below my eyes I applied the same colours with the Zoeva fine eyeliner brush.
After that  applied a thi line of eyeliner with a little wing, and some mascara.

Too bad I can't get the shimmers and metallic shines right on the pics, the flash of the cam always distorts the colours. But you get the idea. I got some really nice compliments on this look. :)

I'm not sure what I did to my hair, (or what I was thinking on this one),but here's a fullface-pic. I used EDM concealer, blush and base. And the same lipfinity as the day before.

Christmas Makeup

I planned on writing a blog on sunday, but my parents in law surprised us by driving to Brabant, to my parents. So  got to see them again, which was just awesome! :)

On the 25th of dec, I went for a simple look with just 2 colours eyesshadow and some fake lashes.Ofcourse I forgot to buy new lashes, so these were re-used way to many times and were badly bend out of shape. You can see that on the closeup pics, but still, they worked well enough.

I used:
  • Gosh eyeshadowbase
  • Barry M Fine Glitter Dust  24
  • Barry M Fine Glitter Dust  22
  • Hema Eyeliner black
  • Maybelline The Colossal mascara

I started with the eyeliner, so you have a nice line to put your fake lashes on. My fake lashes were really crooked, literally, so it was a challenge to get them to follow the line of my eye. Normally if you used new lashes, or ones that aren't re-used to often, you can put it straight onto the line and you can't eve see the difference between them and your own lashes. Unfortuately I don't have a good example of that now, hahah.

I applied the Glitter Dust on my eyes like normal eyeshadow, the glitterdusts look a bit different on your eye than in the jar. The are way more pigmented and bright. I think the jars are made of think g;lass which distorts the colours. The 24 is a nice coppergold colour that I applied on 3/4 of my eye and in the crease. The 22 is a black dust with golden shimmers in it. I applied this one on my outer eyecorner and in the crease. I blended the 22 en 24 together with a blendingbrush and also used that brush to fade it on the outerside. I used the new Zoeve eyeliner brush, which by the way is AWESOME!!!, to make the lines below my eyes.

On my face, I used EDM foundation and concealer. On my lips I used a Maxfactor Lipfinity, I forgot which colour and it's not the stick itself. I might look up the box and post it later.

(It was the night before) Christmas...

Merry Christmass everyone! For those who celebrate with gifts: I hope you gots lots of them and everything you ever wanted. But remember, being with loved ones is the biggest gift of all!
Tha mushy stuff being said, I just wanted to write a quick blog with the look I made for the night before christmas. We had breakfast at midnight with my inlaws, it's a family tradition. And today we woke up to a white world: it had been snowing again.

I made a look with my new metallicstones palette and a Gosh effect powder.
I used 2 golden colours, one light and the other dark, and a coppery colour. On top of te last one I used the Plummy effect powder which give that nice red shimmer. Very Christmassy(is that even a word!?)
Below the eyes I used the same colours as above the eyes.

I applied the MAC lip prep+prime on my lips and on top of that L'oreal Color Riche  'Honey Brown'. To give it that extra sparkle, I applied High Shine Lipgloss by Manhattan(I think nr 463, but I'm not sure. Its a shimmery red). Iapplied NOTHING on my face, so yeah, my nose is a little red, but hey, that's just the way it is. Walking around in the middle of the night, is not really a time to wear lots of makeup. I usually don't wear more then eyemakeup anyway. Weird huh?
Please notice the incredible tacky christmas earrings that really jingle like bells. Have to give the angels their wings on christmas, right? ;)

I wish you al a merry christmas with lots of rejoicing, and booze and food ;)  !!!

So, now I'll start on my christmas makeup and look up my fake lashes. Pics will be up soon, but I have no idea when. Going to be busy, but I bet you all will be aswell :)

Christmas Haul

Yesterday, me and my beloved went shopping in Amsterdam. Ofcourse, as always, we didn't find what we were looking for, but went home with lot of other great stuff.
I won't bother you with pics of everything, just have to say I bought an awesome black halter ''50's style'' dress with velvet print on it. Really happy with that one. :)
And some nice books(incl first 2 of the other series by Laurell K. Hamilton), gifts for my sisterinlaw, Princess Mononoke And Kiki's Delivery Service on dvds, Terry Pratchetts Colour of magic on dvd, an asymmetric skirt with laces, xbox360 game for Sid, A shirt for Christmas for Sid, and other stuff. We also went out for dinner while we were there and had a wonderfull day.

Anyway, this blog is about the makeup I bought.

I'll post some pics of my Zoeva order, which was part of a grouporder and I recieved my part yesterday in Amsterdam. And I bought something in a MAC store.

This is the Metallic Stones palette, which I was immediately in love with, when I first spotted it online.

I can't get the shimmer to photograph right, but at the Zoeva Webshop, you can see great pics of it.

I also ordered 2 brushes: the #266 Smudger and the  #315 Fine Eyliner. Both were really cheap: around 4 and 3 euros, and I read a lot of good reviews on them. I also saw them used on some Youtube channels, so I really wanted to try these. The smudger brush is a little bigger than I expected, and the Eyeliner brush is angled, which I think can be really usefull.

And last, but not least, I went into a MACstore for the first time. The guy that helped me, who was really nice btw and we talked some about his awesome tattoo, was flabbergasted for me being able to walk out the store with just the one thing I came for. Apparantly, that doesn't happen a lot over there and he complimented me on my willpower. LOL.
My boss kept telling me about some stuff that I reall should try, and after reading some reviews, I definately wanted to try this one.
I bought the MAC Lip Prep + Prime, and this is what the MAC site says about it:
"A colour-free base to wear under lipstick. Adds light moisture, smoothes and refines the lips. Improves the appearance of applied lip products."

The reason I bought this, is because my lips tend to really dislike lipstick. I like wearing it, because my lips are pretty lightly coloured, which always gives my face that pale and unfinished look. Normal lipstick tends to rub off very soon and when I apply a second time, it always runs into the structure of my lips. Like paint that gets some water on it, you know? It always bugs me, which is why I started wearing Stay On lipsticks. These are great, but they tend to dehydrate my lips, so they aren't for every day use.
Hopefully, this prep+prime, will make sure my lipsticks stays where it should be, and that way, I can start wearing my lipsticks again.
The Prep+Prime cost 17 euros, which is a lot of money, but if it works, it saves me from never using a lot of already bought lipsticks. And to me, that is worth every cent.

ForEver Green

This is a blog I wrote on Tuesday, but I forgot to upload my pics. This was my EOTD on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I'm addicted to green, always have been, always will. So ofcourse I also have the Gosh palette Evergreen.
I used this one for the EOTD.

Other products I used:
  • 'Woody Green' velvet touch eyeliner by Gosh
  • Gosh eyeshadowbase
  • 'Soft Black' eyebrowpencil by Gosh
  • The Colossal mascara by Maybelline

I used the lightest colour as a highlighter below my brows. Then I applied the second lightest colour on my inner eye corner.  Next to that one I used the gree colour. And in the crease and outer eye corner I used the greyish colour. Below the eye I applied the second lightest colour and the velvet touch eyeliner. Mascara and eyebrowpencil are applied as usual.

Candy Sunset & PurpleGreen Moonstone

Candy Sunset

Yesterday I asked my beloved what colours I should use for my EOTD. He came up with orange, pink and purple, because those look great together in the sunset. Because my eyes aren't blue like the sky is, it turned out to be a little candylike, so I decided to call this EOTD: Candy Sunset.

Products I used:
  • Gosh eyeshadowbase
  • 88palette matte
  • Flirty Curl mascara by Gosh
  • Soft Black eyebrowpencil by Gosh

As usual I started with the eyeshadowbase and spread it around all over my eye. Then I did my eyebrows with the eyebrowpencil and the Fine Slanted Eyeliner brush by Gosh.
I used a goldenyellow colour in my inner eyecorner. From there I applied some light orange colours onto the middle of my eyelid. Next to that and in the crease I used a light pink colour and to finish the outer corner and the crease I used a light purple. I applied it like a little swirl that fades in my crease, like the colours do in the sunset. I used the same colours below my eyes. And last I used the mascara for my eyelashes. I also applied a little on the lashes at the bottom.

PurpleGreen Moonstone

Todays EOTD was made from a golden, green and purple colour. The products I used for this one are:

  • Hema eyeshadowbase
  • Soft eyeshadow mono 'Moonstone' by Catrice
  • Glamorous eyeshadow 'Bottle Green' by Gosh
  • Glamorous eyeshadow 'Purple' by Gosh
  • Velvet eyeliner 'Woody Green' by Gosh
  • Velvet eyeliner 'Purple Stain' by Gosh
  • The Colossal Volum' Express mascara by Maybelline

I applied the eyeshadowbase as usual, and did my eyebrows the same as ever(just a bit softer). I used the eyeshadowbase to create a softer look.
In the inner eyecorner I used the Moonstone, next to that I used the Bottle Green, and next to that one I used the Purple eyeshadow. I applied every colour in the crease aswell and blended them all together.
Below the eye I used the Moonstone and the two velvet touch eyeliner. On top of the eyeliner I used a little of the eyeshadows again.

Unfortunately the flash blocks out the soft Purple colour, I think it's because the other two colours sparkle a lot. The Purple is a little softer than those two. I tried to get it on picture, but the best it would get is this:

Oh well, You know it's there, because I told you so :P

How do you like these looks? And are there some colours you would like to see in an EOTD? Let me know :)

Chocolate bonbons

It's my grandmothers 80th bday on monday, and as usual she didn't want any gifts. I never go to a birthday without one, so I decided to make a little something myself anyway.  I decided to make chocolate bonbons, something I'd never done before.

I made chocolate truffels and moccabonbons, at least that's what they are called in my recipebook.
The truffels are made with 72% Swiss chocolate and covered with 'hagelslag' or chopped up walnuts. These were rolled into little balls. The mocca ones are made with 72% Swiss chocolate and milkchocolate, and coffee. These were squirted on a plate and sprinkled with chopped up walnuts.

Ofcourse I didn't have any papercups to squirt them in, so I had to cut them off the plate after they came out the fridge. Doesnt really matter though, they still taste good :)

Closeup shot, yeah I know they arent the prettiest ever, but I was in a hurry and the stuff clung to my hands a lot. Still, I think it's a pretty good first try.

Another closeup shot. The bag I used to squirt them on the plate with, was the worst thing ever invented. Instead of going throught the bottom where it's supposed to go, it went through the bag itself. Yeah, that was a lot of fun... Still, they look pretty nice, considering what a battle it was to get them out of that bag. I can't for the life of me come up with a better word for squirting, sorry, hahaha. And the bag, maybe it's called an icingbag, or something?

Anyway, we tasted them, and they taste good. It's a pretty heavy taste, but oh well, they ARE bonbons. And there's 40% alcohol in them....hahahah.

[edit: update 21-12]

Here's a picture of the bonbons in the glass pot i bought for them. I have two, one was for my grandmother and one was for my father. U nfortunately, the trains arent going anywhere today because of snow. Which means I'm not going anywhere, especially not the other side of the country. So these will probably be eaten on christmas and I'll make new ones for my grandmother and dad who I hope to see in 2 weeks.

EOTD: Ice Ice Baby

I probably don't have to tell you what inspired me to make this EOTD. :)

When I look outside, there's nothing but white and a little blueish glow.
I love the way the world looks with a litlle coating of snow and ice, so why not make my eyes look like that?
This EOTD is also very suitable for fantasy fairs, or stuff like that. I would apply more dramatic eyeshadow for oone of those though.

What did I use to make this EOTD?
  • 88 palette
  • soft black eyebrowpencil by Gosh
  • Volume boost, base mascara by Essence
  • Effect powder 'Blue Diamond' by Gosh
  • Dazzle Dust 'nr 78' by Barry M.
  • Gosh eyeshadowbase
  • Smoky palette (purple one) by Bourjois
  • 2in1 kajal pencil by Essence(or just a white eyelinerpen)

This EOTD is pretty easy to create. I started with the eyeshadowbase, which I applied as usual. Then I used a very light whitish highlighter below my brows. The brows are done as usual, I don't think I have to exlain those again.
On the inner eyecorner I used a white eyeshadow from the Bourjois palette. Next to that I used different shades of light silver and pale blue from the 88palette. You can use any colour blue that you like, it just has to have that icey touch to it. On te outer corner and the crease I used the Blue Diamond effect powder.

In the corner I also used a little of the Barry M. Dazzle Dust.
BElow the eye I used the same white and blue colours again. And a little Barry M again in te corner. On my waterline I used a white eyelinerpencil. To give it that extra special winter look, I sed the volume boost base mascara. This one is white and has little particals that cling to your lashes, giving it that icy look.

I hope you like this one, it's a bit...different than my usual EOTD's , hahaha.

And this is how I actually am going outside ;)

I have a very pale skintone and the pale makeup really made me look...different..and creepy, hahah.

Still, with the black mascara it still looked weird, I'm used to wearing darker colours around my eyes.

I also used a little more effect powder and dazzle dust, to give it a little more colour.
